Prospects for the Cuxhaven fishing industry
HWG member companies present themselves at the "fish international" in Bremen
Cuxhaven, 26 February 2018 - On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the most important trade fair for the fish industry, companies from the Cuxhaven fishing location will again be presenting their products and services on site. In addition to the sponsors, the Cuxhaven Port Association (HWG) and Seaports of Niedersachsen, 14 companies and institutions will be represented at the joint stand 5E39 in hall 5, showing a cross-section of the fishing industry.
For example, the HWG member Kutterfisch-Zentrale presents its recently received Naturland certificate for sustainably fished saithe and informs interested parties about the two new cutters, which are currently being built in Spain and are particularly environment-friendly due to their engines with catalytic converters.
Founded in 1988, the exhibition for fish processors and traders, canteens, caterers and food retailers first started with 100 exhibitors. In 2018, 312 exhibitors will be present, around 40 percent of them from abroad. The number of visitors also increases with each biannual exhibition. In 2016, 11,732 visitors were registered, and the trade fair expects a similar level of interest this year.
"The 'fish international' is a must for us - it is the only German trade fair for the fishing industry," confirms Jens Lühmann, organizer of the Cuxhaven stand and Managing Director of Spedition Lühmann GmbH & Co. KG. "In Cuxhaven our customers can find a wide range of services, from fishing, processing, packaging and storage to delivery, laboratory and sales. At the trade fair, we offer them the opportunity for face-to-face talks and initial contact." With a joint stand, he explains, the frequency of visitors is higher than at a separate stand, as visitors find many different contact persons in one place.
On a gross area of 10,680 square metres in halls 5 and 6 of Messe Bremen, the latest innovations can also be seen - not only in the culinary sector. In the aquaculture exhibition area, exhibitors showcase everything from a to z for fish farming and production in recirculation systems. In a corresponding aquaculture workshop, best-practice examples on the topics of recirculation systems, salmonids, shrimps and animal welfare will be presented.
The Cuxhaven Port Association (HWG) represents the interests of Cuxhaven’s maritime companies, institutions and private individuals united by the common goal of marketing and further developing the port at the mouth of the river Elbe. The HWG also promotes Cuxhaven’s standing as the most important port site for offshore wind energy in Germany.
